A Partners In Health supported Community Health Worker in Burera district in norhtern Rwanda. Rwanda has more than 30,000 community health workers, at least two for every village. They are trained by the government to recognize and treat basic illness such as malaria and diarrhea and in some areas by Partners In Health in accompaniment for treatment of HIV/AIDS and TB.
