A HIV/AIDS patient in the male ward of the rebuilt Rwinkwavu hospital in southeast Rwanda. The hospital is run by the Rwandan Minstry of Health and Boston based Partners in Health. Partners in Health, co-founded by Dr. Paul Farmer, has 888 paid community health workers called "accompagnateurs" attached to the hospital. They visit pateints at home to administer drugs for chronic dieases such as TB and HIV/Aids. The accompagnateurs program in Rwainkwavu builds upon Rwanda's system of 30,000 elected volunteer Community Health Wokers. The Clinton Foundation is a major project donor.
